Royal Colleges of Medicine
Royal Colleges of Medicine in the UK are hugely influential members organisations that oversee the training, education, and standards of medical practice across various specialties. #MEAction UK and #MEAction Scotland have organised and run information stalls at the annual conferences for the Royal College of GPs and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and successfully campaigned for the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh to run an ME training event.
Royal College of General Practitioners
The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) is the professional membership body for family doctors in the UK and overseas. In October 2023 #MEAction UK and #MEAction Scotland organised and attended a stall at the RCGP's Annual Conference in Glasgow. Alongside Action for M.E, we spoke to hundreds of GPs over the three days of the conference, focussing on raising awareness of the 2021 NICE guideline, the Learn About ME module and other resources that can improve how they diagnose and support people with ME.

Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh
The Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh helps qualified doctors to pursue their careers in specialist (internal) medicine through medical examinations, education and training. They also provide also provide resources and information to support and facilitate professional development for physicians throughout their careers.
On ME Awareness Day 2023, #MEAction Scotland volunteers stood outside the Royal College Physicians of Edinburgh building with signs, photos and leaflets. The purpose was to deliver a letter for Dr Kerri Baker, Dean of Education and Training, which called for much needed education on ME.
In 2024 Dr Baker responded to our letter by working with Dr Marie-Claire Grounds and Dr Hannah Preston (both have a particular interest in the conditions) to organise an online webinar for medical, health care, scientific staff, and students in June. Jaime Seltzer, #MEAction's Scientific Director, gave a talk on severe ME and Karima Rahman, #MEAction Scotland volunteer, spoke about the patient perspective.

Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health is the membership body for paediatricians in the UK and around the world. With about 24,000 members in the UK and internationally, they focus on postgraduate medical education, professional standards, research and policy.
In March 2025 our volunteers organised and ran an information stall at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health conference in Glasgow. There were very high levels of interest from both medical students and paediatricians, particularly in NICE key symptoms. We were delighted to have Dr Nigel Speight helping at the stand, talking to other paediatricians and explaining how they can help children and young people with ME.
